About Nourish International

Nourish International is a student movement to eradicate global poverty. During the school year, our Chapters raise money through small businesses called Ventures. Their profits are invested in sustainable development chosen by the students that earn them. Over the summer, students work closely alongside a local partner and community members to implement a project with a specific, measurable outcome.

By doing this, Nourish makes an impact in two ways: First through projects, where Nourish empower communities with long-term solutions. Second is through students whom they equip with the skills and experiences they need to become agents of social change. Nourish International was founded in 2003 by Sindhura Citineni as the UNC student group “Hunger Lunch.” Since incorporating as a 501(c)3 non-profit in 2006, Nourish has grown into a national organization with chapters at 23 universities across the United States. Since inception, Nourish has sent more than 80 students and $100,000 to 14 communities worldwide. In 2008, Nourish received the North Carolina Peace Prize for excellence in cross-cultural solutions and sustainable development.
